ABOUT

About

Tom's philosophic research focuses on the metaphysics and responsibility of groups. His interests in economics and sports help demonstrate the practical application of his research for teams and corporations

His philosophic research centers around the metaphysical question: What is an organized group? Like what is a corporation? The idea is that with a clearer grasp of what these organizations are can give us insight into how corporations are connected to their employees and the society they are embedded in.

SOCIAL GROUPS

Social Groups

Tom's philosophic research on social groups

Why are social groups relevant?

Studying social groups is important because it allows us to understand how people interact and function together as a collective unit. It also helps us to examine how social groups are formed and maintained, and how they can influence individual behavior and decision-making. Furthermore, social groups can be used as a tool to explain patterns of settlement, divisions of labor, distributions of income or other rewards in social scientific analyses. Finally, examining social groups can be important for pursuing social justice and reducing injustices related to race, gender, class, or other social categories.
